2010 Spring Enrichment Classes
Choose from a host of recreational classes designed to keep you fit, active and inspired. Whether you want to study the ancient martial art of karate, learn a few vibrant dance moves, or achieve a balanced body and mind with meditation or yoga, the Club has the perfect program for you.

    Aikido

    This non-competitive martial art is one of the most effective forms of self-defense. The class is taught in a relaxed atmosphere at a pace suited to each student, with techniques focused on defending yourself from various attacks. Size and strength are not necessary to correctly perform techniques and become skilled at aikido.

    Circuit Training

    This invigorating class provides a whole-body workout using a series of exercises and a cool-down stretch. Resistance tools allow you to build body strength, improve soft tissue and maintain a high heart rate, making the training effective for all levels of fitness.

    Core Conditioning

    This class targets strength, balance and stabilization of the core area (pelvis, lumber, thoracic and cervical spine). Exercises are designed to improve posture, prevent lower-back problems, strengthen hips and flatten abs.

    Judo

    Judo (literally “the way of gentleness’) is a unique martial art established in 1882 as a safer distillation of Jiu-jitsu, a method of unarmed combat among samurai warriors. Techniques include throwing, hold downs and, as proficiency progresses, choking and joint locking. Students will develop confidence, physical fitness and social responsibility as they learn the basics.

    Karate

    Gojuryu is one of four major schools of Japanese karate, combining hard and soft methods. Techniques range from blocking, punching and kicking to basic movements, forms and sparring. Students build self-confidence and discipline while learning effective self-defense.

    RevMaster Indoor Cycling

    This great cardio workout is set to an upbeat music track that will keep you pedaling your waythrough various courses and terrain, with changing resistance, tempo and timing. Receive computerized feedback to immediately assess your heart rate, speed, burnt calories, time and distance.

    Iyengar Yoga
    This method provides an in-depth study and practice of postures and breathing, focusing on the connection between the body and mind.
