Gallery Reception: Wataru Nagase

The Nagasaki-based potter launches his collection of deep sea-inspired ceramics at the Frederick Harris Gallery.

Wataru Nagase’s atelier is located in a former ceramics factory in the artist commune of Hasami, one of Japan’s foremost pottery districts. Inspired by his love for fishing, the Tokyo University of the Arts graduate strives to produce pieces “that cannot be seen in photos.”
“You want to make something that is more than real,” he says.
