Aired on October 22, the segment afforded viewers a rare glimpse of the fine services, lively events and exquisite fare the Club offers its Members.

Tokyo American Club Hosts Community Bon Odori Festival
Tokyo American Club celebrates its popular annual Bon Odori festival in Takanawa on Saturday, August 8. Now in its 19th year, Bon Odori combines the charm and revelry of an all-American carnival with the tradition of a Japanese summer matsuri for a memorable day of intercultural fun.
Open to the public and local community, this entertaining outing for all ages features a taiko drum performance and yukata summer kimono contests, as well as games, prizes, children's activities, food and drinks stalls and more. In recognition of the Bon holiday season in Japan, the festival culminates with a colorful, customary Bon Odori dance around a specially built yagura tower.
Sportsman of the Year 2009
Tokyo American Club will honor Alex Ramirez of the Yomiuri Giants baseball team with its prestigious Sportsman of the Year Award at a presentation at the Club on Friday, May 29, from 7 p.m.
The Venezuelan slugger is playing in his ninth season in Japan, having previously been with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows. Before that, he played for the Cleveland Indians and the Pittsburgh Pirates in the major leagues in the United States.
Ramirez currently holds the Central League record for most base hits in a single season (204) and was the Central League's MVP for the 2008 season.
"Alex Ramirez was chosen as the Sportsman of the Year due to his outstanding performances this past year helping to lead the Yomiuri Giants to the 2008 Central League championship," said Jeff McNeill, chair of the Club's Sportsman of the Year Committee. "He has demonstrated the ability to perform well under pressure to help his team achieve many victories."
2008 English Essay Contest
Tokyo American Club (TAC) on Monday, November 3, brightened the futures of two young Japanese students at an awards ceremony for its annual English Essay Contest.
The two Tokyo high school students were each awarded 500,000 yen toward university tuition fees for finishing top in the Club competition. Mari Hosho of Ohyu Gakuen Girls' Senior High School and Kei Yoshimoto of Oin High School also received prizes worth 70,000 yen. In addition, three runners-up received prizes and vouchers worth 50,000 yen.
