GoConnect Offers Fantastic Activities In May

May offers some of Japan’s best weather. The delightful sun and relatively low humidity provide the perfect setting to get outdoors. There is also ample time to enjoy this weather (and much needed time off work), with the Golden Week holidays from April 29 to May 5, and Mother’s Day on May 9.

Unfortunately, a third state of emergency (SOE) has been announced for the Tokyo Metropolis along with Kyoto, Osaka and Hyogo prefectures, so your Golden Week plans may have been affected. We have put together a list of activities that you can look forward to while staying safe at home.

And because of the family-related holidays in Golden Week (Children’s Day on May 5 and Mother’s Day), we have created this list of activities that can be enjoyed with your loved ones.

*Disclaimer: Due to the most recent SOE, some locations will be closed—or have limited opening hours—until May 31. Please check with each individual establishment.

1st Activity: Have a Meal at Morton’s Steakhouse

Give yourself, your family members, and your friends a treat during Golden Week with some incredible beef!

MAY SPECIAL OFFER
Morton’s Steakhouse is providing a variety of different courses to choose from—to celebrate Golden Week and Mother’s Day. How good does the Golden Week limited Filet Mignon and Lobster main course sound!?

GoConnect Members are also treated to a free glass of Champagne for every reservation made at Morton’s. When making your reservation, please mention the GoConnect offer.

4th Activity: Go to Art Exhibitions and Museums

Golden Week is also a time when the weather is particularly pleasant—not too hot or cold. Take a walk through Tokyo and you’ll find some of our favorite art exhibitions and museums.

Art Liberation Zone EATS Nihonbashi is an art exhibition held in the east area of Tokyo Station (EATS) around Nihonbashi, from March 19 to May 9. EATS is a vibrant part of Tokyo that has long ties to the city’s past, as well as connections to developments that are shaping its future, which makes it a perfect location for this art event. Come to the show and feast your eyes on the variety of art while supporting the exhibiting artists.

The event is organized by Tagboat, a contemporary art gallery, and GoConnect had the chance to speak with their president, Kenji Tokumitsu. You can read the full interview here.

Golden Week is one of your last chances to enjoy this exhibition. Due to the SOE, some parts of the exhibition will be closed. For more information, please visit their official website.

The Mori Art Museum has just opened its newest exhibition: Another Energy: Power to Continue Challenging - 16 Women Artists from around the World. The exhibition features artworks from artists aged 71 to 105. With 130 works, from paintings, video and sculptures to large-scale installations and performances, it is sure to be a thought-provoking exhibition.
