Tea Ceremony Experience

Explore a classic piece of traditional Japanese culture at an afternoon workshop at the Club.

Students will learn the history, etiquette and rituals behind the centuries-old practice of sado (also known as chado) while trying their hand at making a bowl of matcha with such utensils as a chasen whisk.

While enjoying their cup of matcha with a seasonal Japanese sweet, students will discover how the tea ceremony is linked with the ancient philosophy of Zen.

Sohki Watanabe has been practicing Japanese tea ceremony for more than 20 years after learning the discipline at Urasenke, one of the largest schools of Japanese tea ceremony. She completed her MBA in the UK before building a career in marketing. She now uses her language skills to introduce tea ceremony and Japanese culture to visitors from overseas.
