Tastes of Taiwan: Dumplings

Traditional dishes from the island nation.


What will I learn in this class?
Familiarize yourself with the aromas and sample the flavors of traditional Taiwanese cuisine.

Students will learn how to prepare, fill, wrap and cook pan-fried stuffed dumplings with minced pork and spring onion.

Participants will also take a different culinary route by boiling minced pork and shrimp dumplings for a delectable comparison of techniques and tastes.

All recipes will be provided to participants. Please inform the instructor of any dietary restrictions.

Who teaches this class?
Yoko Yanagisawa is a native of Taiwan who started cooking in her parents’ traditional restaurant in middle school.
She has attended cooking schools in Japan and Taiwan and also took lessons from private instructors.
Yanagisawa served as chairperson for the Chinese booth for two years at Nishimachi International School’s annual food fair.
