What captures your fancy: sculpture, scrolls, woodblock prints, ceramics, kimono, curios, antique dolls?

Learn how to find the best deals at the numerous shrine sales and antique markets across Tokyo.

Students will handle real antiques and closely examine them in the classroom.

Study how to quickly identify materials, condition and provenance on your way to spotting originals compared to cheap replicas.

Who teaches this class?
Kara Besher has run a contemporary art gallery in Tokyo, advised museums and private collectors, managed an artist-in-residence program, reviewed exhibitions for magazines and taught art management at Keio University. Besher holds an art history degree from Sophia University and a certification in arts appraisal from New York University.
