Sumo Experience

Japan’s iconic sport comes to the Club for a day of up-close-and-personal sumo insights and action.

Retired professional wrestlers Bungonishiki and Towanoyama (pictured left and right, respectively) will demonstrate sumo techniques, explain the rules and history of the ancient sport and talk about the daily life of a rikishi wrestler in a sumo stable.

If you ever wondered how much wrestlers eat each day, what their training entails or what it takes to become a grand champion, the two former wrestlers, who used to belong to the same stable, will reveal all.

Members will also be able to take to the ring for a “bout” with one of the Club’s “larger-than-life” guests.

The sumo spirit even spreads to Rainbow Café, where Members can feast on a jumbo-sized Yokozuna Bacon Cheeseburger or a Oyakata Beef Bowl on this weekend only.

Held in collaboration with the Culture, Community & Entertainment Committee.
