Welcome the weekend with an energizing hour of tai chi each Friday evening.
What will I learn in this class?
Often described as “meditation in motion,” tai chi is a so-called “internal” martial art that is characterized by slow, fluid movements. This class introduces students to the fundamentals of tai chi through joint-loosening exercises, training drills and form practice. Sessions also focus on standing neigong, with optional partner exercises.
What are the benefits of this class?
Harvard Medical School has highlighted the ancient Chinese martial art’s ability to treat or prevent health problems. Although tai chi is slow, its movements can help develop muscle strength, flexibility, balance and, to a lesser degree, aerobic conditioning. It can also improve body alignment and release unnecessary muscle tension.
Who will teach this class?
Paul McIntyre (pictured) has practiced various martial arts, including neigong and qigong, and meditation for more than 25 years. Having recently relocated to Japan, the Australian is a senior instructor with Heaven Man Earth International. He has a passion for the propagation of authentic tai chi as a holistic martial art and a powerful means to improve physical and psychological health and well-being.
