Beautiful Ikkanbari Baskets

Ikkanbari is a traditional Japanese folk craft in which several layers of washi papers are applied to bamboo baskets.

Kakishibu lacquer made from persimmon tannin is later applied to make the item durable and water-resistant.
This charming basket/carryall can also be decorated with obi fabric.
You may purchase some from the instructors who will also have handles and clasps for sale for an elegant, yet practical tote bag.
