The Club hosts two sake breweries from the mountainous Aizu area of Fukushima Prefecture for a gourmet evening of Japanese flavors.
Aizu is home to some of the oldest and most renowned breweries in Japan. In fact, Fukushima sake took the gold medal in the national sake competition each year from 2013 to 2019.
The evening’s four courses of seasonal cuisine, including lightly smoked scallops and a surf ’n’ turf of seared tilefish and marinated Kirakira pork, will be paired with premium, handcrafted sake from Eisen Shuzo and Tsurunoe Shuzo.
Besides sampling the sake of these two Aizu Wakamatsu breweries, diners will hear about their long histories and distinct approaches to brewing from Yuji Miyamori of Eisen and Tsurunoe’s Hirotoshi Mukai.
In recognition of the Club’s continuing support of the Fukushima area since the disaster of 2011, the evening will also feature a performance by two Fukushima-native professional musicians, pianist Shunei Baba and violinist Kano Morohashi.
