Dress Code
Tokyo American Club prides itself on ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for Members and their guests. In preserving the ambience and traditions of the Club, the explanations below serve as the minimum dress code requirements.
When in doubt, visitors should err on the side of more conservative attire. Clothing and accessories must not display inappropriate images or messages (in any language) and must be neat and clean.

Requirements
Men
- Collared shirts
- Collarless shirts permitted only when worn beneath a blazer or sport coat
- Slacks, khakis or jeans
- Closed-toe dress shoes, loafers or sneakers
Women
- Dresses, blouses, sweaters or tops
- Skirts, slacks or jeans
- Open or closed-toe dress shoes, loafers, dress sandals or sneakers
Hats (except women’s dress hats) and athletic/exercise wear are not appropriate at any time.
Dress shorts are acceptable for men and women from May 1 to October 31.
Weekends
T-shirts, dress shorts and dress sandals (except flip-flops, shower shoes, soft plastic or foam clogs, such as Crocs, or similar footwear) are acceptable.

Restrictions
Men & Women
- Club or sweaty exercise wear may not be worn in the dining facilities, Foreign Traders’ Bar, Library or 1F lobby and B1 Family area, except when in transit to or from the Family side 1F and B1 entrances.
- Hats are not allowed in Café Med and Rainbow Café.
- Footwear is required at all times, except in the Sky Pool area or as otherwise instructed.
- Members in transit to or from the Sky Pool are expected to cover up.
The Club's summer dress code takes effect between May 1 and October 31.
During this time, dress shorts are acceptable for men and women in the Formal areas of the Club, where the standard dress code is applicable.
Who creates the dress code?
The Member-led Dress Code Task Force and House Committee work with management and receive approval from the Board of Governors. The task force reviews and updates the dress code when necessary.
Where can I find the most up-to-date dress code information?
The dress code is part of the House Rules. The most accurate source for the latest House Rules and dress code is the Club website.
How is the dress code enforced?
Management, by the authority of the Board of Governors, is empowered to determine and enforce what constitutes appropriate attire. Management is obligated to inform the House Committee of any Members who refuse to comply with the dress code or any other rules.
Are there any exceptions to the dress code?
Private and Club events can be granted exemption by the Board of Governors.
Does the dress code apply if I am transiting from one area to the other?
Yes, it does. For example, if transiting from Traders’ Bar to the Family side, you must adhere to the Standard dress code to pass through the Winter Garden.
To whom does the dress code apply?
The dress code applies to all Members and guests. It is the responsibility of the Member to inform their guests in advance of the dress code and ensure that all Club rules are followed.
Azabudai Clubhouse
Members can access the Club through the Adult and Family entrances on B1 and the first floor and via the B3 entrance on Mamiana Slope.
Access to the Club is only possible with a membership card. Guests must be registered by a Member at the entrance.
Nihonbashi Clubhouse
Located on the sixth floor of Nihonbashi Muromachi Mitsui Tower, the Club is accessible by escalator from the fifth-floor lobby of the office side of the building.

The Club has more than 200 parking spaces for Members with parking stickers and guests. Check the Club's parking policy before traveling.

- Kamiyacho Station on the Hibiya Line (exit 2)
- Azabu Juban Station on the Namboku Line (exit 3) or Oedo Line (exit 6)
- Akabanebashi Station on the Oedo Line (Nakanohashi exit)
Up to four hours of free parking at Nihonbashi Muromachi Mitsui Tower (Coredo Muromachi Terrace Parking Lot) is available for Members while they are using the Nihonbashi Club. Members cannot receive a parking pass from Club reception when visiting places outside the Club.

- Kanda Station and Tokyo Station on JR lines (walking distance)
Up to six hours of free bicycle parking at Nihonbashi Muromachi Mitsui Tower (Coredo Muromachi Terrace bicycle parking lot) is available for Members using the Club.
- The bicycle parking area (6am–11pm) can be accessed via an Edo Avenue-level elevator.
