CHOP Wins Top Wine List Award

CHOP Steakhouse's wine list has been named the world's best medium-sized wine list by The World of Fine Wine magazine.

In receiving the accolade, the Club's home of steaks becomes the only restaurant in Japan to win three stars, and it is one of just 22 three-star dining spots in all of Asia.

Senior judge Alder Yarrow described the list as “really nicely designed, and the curation in terms of diversity is excellent. It’s so well-edited, and with really nice descriptions on all the by-the-glass wines.”

In particular, the judges praised CHOP's collection of California wines, and Francis Percival complimented the list's range of “classic modern, new wave and classic old names” from the state.

Three stars are awarded to wine lists that have exceptional breadth; a range of leading producers; a good mix of vintages, styles and prices; an extensive by-the-glass program, with a wide selection of half bottles and larger formats; outstanding organization; and originality, personality and vision.

TAC Toastmasters Earns Award

The TAC Toastmasters Club recently won a Toastmasters International Talk Up Toastmasters Award.

The Club group was recognized in February/March for attracting five new members. This is the second consecutive year the Club has received the accolade.

"Growing our membership enhances the viability of our club and expands the pool of personal and professional diversity in the organization," says Michelle Herring, vice president of public relations for the TAC Toastmasters Club. "New members bring new skills and backgrounds, which makes for a more interesting dynamic among what is already a highly energized team of TAC Toastmasters."

TAC Toastmasters has more than 30 members, who meet twice a month to develop their public speaking and leadership skills through practice and feedback.

CHOP Now for Members Only

CHOP Steakhouse, the Club's home of top-quality Certified Angus Beef steaks and other all-American favorites, now welcomes Members and their guests only.

Third-floor dining was open to the general public for a trial period, but the Board of Governors voted to end the trial at the April Board meeting.

"At the Club, Members always come first, without exception," says Club President John Durkin. "The venue is very popular with Members and doesn't need to be open to non-Members to be sustainable."

The other third-floor dining venue, 220° [Modern Teppan], has been a Member-only space since it opened last year.
