Junior Aikido (Fall)

Students from 5 years old learn the essentials of this modern Japanese martial art.

What will my child learn in this class?
Students first learn dojo etiquette and the basic body movements of aikido, which help to boost self-control, agility, coordination and flexibility. Since aikido techniques are based on weapons training, students learn how to use the bokken (wooden sword) and jo (wooden staff) safely and correctly (foam replicas for younger students) while developing their posture, movement, timing and spatial awareness. Children close to their 5th birthday are welcome to take a trial session.

What are the benefits of this class?
Children experience a Japanese martial art in an environment of fun and discipline. The program's structured approach to building physical skills also aids mental development, such as self-awareness and confidence. The martial art also teaches children how to work with others respectfully and the importance of focus in reaching your full potential.

Who will teach this class?

As part of Pacific Aikido, the Club's aikido group is a registered dojo of the Aikikai Foundation-Aikido World Headquarters.
