Begin or continue your journey in the gojuryu style of karate.
What will I learn in this class?
Students learn the fundamentals of gojuryu karate, one of the four major traditional styles. With techniques that date back to the 19th century, gojuryu emphasizes both hard striking attacks as well as indirect blocks, grapples and takedowns that maximize the efficiency of each practitioner’s abilities.
Students will have the chance to gain a belt or advance in level during the semester.
What are the benefits of this class?
In addition to the physical benefits of regular karate practice, gojuryu students also learn discipline when sparring with opponents and practicing individual kata techniques. By focusing on proper form and controlling one’s breathing, students gain valuable mental and emotional benefits that may help relieve stress and improve one’s performance under pressure.
