Intermediate Pilates

Transform the way your body looks, feels and moves through this total-body workout.

What will I learn in this class?
Pilates is a low-impact workout that is designed to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility.

Through slow, precise movements and controlled breathing, Pilates, which was developed by German physical trainer Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, primarily targets the core muscles but the workout also strengthens the arms, glutes and lower legs.

This class is for intermediate-level Pilates students.

What are the benefits of this class?
Pilates strengthens and stabilizes your core, which leads to better posture, flexibility and mobility.

One study published in the Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research found that people who practiced Pilates regularly over a period of months reported improved abdominal endurance, hamstring flexibility and upper-body muscular endurance.

Like exercise in general, Pilates can boost mental well-being.

Who will teach this class?
Tomoe Kaneko (pictured) has been teaching fitness classes since 1982. In addition to being a certified Pilates instructor, she is a qualified instructor in dance conditioning, step aerobics and maternity-focused exercise.
