Extend a helping hand to Tokyo’s homeless this Thanksgiving season.
While there might be light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, Tokyo’s less fortunate continue to encounter hardships that only the public’s generosity can address.
Sanyukai, a long-running shelter for homeless men and perennial beneficiary of Connections, is once again accepting donations of food and household goods to benefit one of the city’s most overlooked communities.
Contributions of instant rice, dried seaweed, canned food, pickled umeboshi plums, dried furikake seasoning and individually packed snacks will help the nonprofit organization feed those in need (items should be unopened and within their expiration date).
Also accepted are new towels, new socks, detergent, soap and other daily necessities. Secondhand clothing and footwear cannot be accepted. Donations must be dropped off in plastic bags or boxes.
Those wishing to drop off a donation before November 19 should contact the Connections Office to arrange a date and time.
