Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art focused on harmony, not competition. It’s an ideal activity for kids to build self-confidence, physical coordination, and discipline while having fun in a supportive, structured environment.
What will the students learn in this class?
Students first learn respect for the dojo, their teachers, and their classmates. In aikido, practice is done with partners, not opponents, which helps students learn self-control. Through structured drills, games, and techniques, students learn important physical skills and how to work well with others.

Who will teach this class?
Paul Neuman (pictured), a sixth-degree black belt and chief instructor of Pacific Aikido, has taught aikido since 1991 and at the Club since 1999. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Neuman and his team bring decades of experience teaching both children and adults. As part of Pacific Aikido, the Club's aikido group is a registered dojo of the Aikikai Foundation-Aikido World Headquarters.
